Turkish rebar producer Izmir Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. (IDC) has announced that it will double the capacity of its melting shop to 2,800,000 mt. Accordingly, the share of IDC in Turkey’s crude steel production capacity will rise from 3.5 percent to seven percent, as SteelOrbis understands. With this capacity rise, the company aims to strengthen its position in the sector and increase its turnover.

“There are significant economic impacts amid the coronavirus pandemic, which affects the whole world. Various support programs and studies are carried out in our country in order to overcome these economic effects. The lively activities in the construction sector are increasing the interest in construction steel, which is one of the main consumables of the sector,” the company said in its statement.
