According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in July this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 15.7 percent year on year, totaling $1.34 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in third place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the first seven months, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $8.59 billion, decreasing by 27.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In July, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 18th among the products with the highest import value, decreased by 7.2 percent year on year, amounting to $220.44 million. In the first seven months of the year, the value of Turkey’s imports of articles of iron or steel decreased by 19.3 percent to $1.37 billion, both year on year.
