According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in September this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 8.8 percent year on year, totaling $1.29 billion. In the given month, iron and steel ranked in third place among the most imported products of the country in terms of value. In the first nine months, the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $11.12 billion, decreasing by 24.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In September, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 17th among the products with the highest import value, decreased by 16.4 percent year on year, amounting to $200.37 million. In the first nine months of the year, the value of Turkey’s imports of articles of iron or steel decreased by 18.9 percent year on year to $1.73 billion.
