According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in October this year Turkey's foreign trade deficit increased by 263.6 percent to $1.81 billion compared to October 2018. In the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's foreign trade deficit fell by 52.5 percent year on year to $24.54 billion.
In October, Turkey's iron and steel exports ranked fourth among the country's products with the highest export value, totaling $825.62 million, decreasing by 27.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked eighth among the products with the highest export value, decreased by 5.4 percent year on year, amounting to $588.4 million.
In the first ten months of the year, Turkey's iron and steel export value decreased by 7.3 percent to $8.54 billion, while the value of its exports of articles of iron or steel decreased by 0.7 percent to $5.33 billion, both year on year.
