US president Donald Trump reportedly plans to prioritize Brazil’s admission to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) over Argentina, according to media reports.

The US first said it wanted Argentina to be next in line to join the OECD, however, the change of perspective favoring Brazil was welcomed by local president Jair Bolsonaro.

“The US announcement prioritizing Brazil’s admission to the OECD proves, once more, that we’re building a solid partnership with the US,” said Brazilian foreign relations minister, Ernesto Araujo.

Brazil’s admission to the OECD would mean increased investor confidence. Chile and Mexico are already part of the OECD, and Colombia should soon join the group as well.
