Tohoku University and Sumitomo sign cooperative agreement

On June 4, Japanese mining giant Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd (SMM) and Tohoku University, a national university located in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, concluded an agreement to cooperate towards effective use and advancement of non-ferrous metal materials. The two sides seek to work together in sustained and systematic research and education in all fields in which their collaboration is possible, including research & development and human resources development.

According to a joint press release, SMM and Tohoku University believe that with the conclusion of this agreement their liaison in research and education relating to materials science will play an important role in the promotion of scholarship and industrial technology in Japan and in furthering effective use and advancement of non-ferrous metal materials worldwide.
