The Russian pipe producer TMK has announced that its subsidiary Taganrog Metallurgical Works (Tagmet) has smelted its two millionth mt of steel since the commissioning of its continuous billet caster in 2006.

The construction of the continuous billet caster was the second step in the modernization of the steelmaking complex of Tagmet, which allows it to produce its own high quality round billets for seamless pipe production.

During the four years of the continuous caster's operation, the total length of billets produced at Tagmet has reached 8,000 kilometers.
