TISCO to increase its capacity to 15 million tons

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corporation (TISCO) is reportedly planning to expand its annual production capacity to 15 million tons by 2010. According to the plan, the current capacity of the company, which is 4 million tons, will be increased to 9 million tons within two years. The recent acquisition of Singapore-based steel producer NatSteel, which produces 2 million tons of long products per annum, will contribute to the capacity expansion. Then the capacity will be increased to 15 million tons by 2010. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, TISCO inked a deal with the Orissa government to establish a 4-5 million ton-steel plant in Duburi.
