TISCO to expand production in China

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp (TISCO) announced plans to expand its value-added steel production at three units in China. Two of these units are long-product units and the other is a wire drawing unit. The plan calls for TISCO to first produce semi-finished products in India, where the cost of production is almost $50 per ton less when compared to China. TISCO will then ship the products to China for value addition. The units in China will turn the Indian production into such products as galvanized sheets, rebars, wire rods and wires.
