Tianjin Ecology and Environment Bureau has held a press release on May 28, stating that Tianjin will promote the overall elimination of three steelmakers. Accordingly, Tianjin-based Giant Heavy Industry Co., Tianjin-based Tianfeng Iron and Steel Co. and Tianjin-based Zhasan Metallic Materials Technology Co. will be eliminated. However, it will reserve four steelmakers in Tianjin city, e.g. Rockcheck Group, Tianjin Iron and Steel Group, Tianjin Tiantie Metallurgical Group and Tianjin Pipe Group.

The aim of elimination of steelmakers is to control industrial pollution and ensure ultra-low emissions.
