ThyssenKrupp sues Mittal Steel for Dofasco

German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp has announced that it will take all possible actions to acquire the Canadian steel producer Dofasco, as stipulated by the agreement the company signed with Mittal Steel. This includes the legal enforcement of the claims arising out of the Letter Agreement signed by Mittal Steel and ThyssenKrupp on January 26, 2006. Dofasco is currently owned by the Netherlands-based foundation, Strategic Steel Stichting, which decided not to transfer Dofasco's shares back to Arcelor after the company's merger with Mittal Steel was finalized, thereby ignoring the request of Arcelor Mittal on the matter. To enforce its claims on Dofasco before the Letter Agreement expires, ThyssenKrupp has now initiated legal action against Mittal Steel.
