Austria-based international technology group ANDRITZ has announced that it has received an order from the stainless steel producer ThyssenKrupp Nirosta, subsidiary of German steel giant ThyssenKrupp, to supply an annealing and pickling line as well as a rolling mill for its Krefeld plant.

The new annealing and pickling line will process up to 400,000 mt per year of hot rolled strip, AISI 200, 300 and 400 series stainless steel with thicknesses of 1.5-10.0 mm, as well as 290,000 mt per year of cold rolled strip up to 1,600 mm in width and 0.5-6.0 mm in thicknesses.

The new 20-high rolling mill will produce stainless steel strip of 0.3-8.0 mm in thickness and 900-1,600 mm in width. With this rolling mill, ThyssenKrupp Nirosta is extending its portfolio for processing wide, high-precision stainless steel strip.

The new facilities are scheduled for start-up in the first quarter of 2014.
