Italy's only stainless steel flats producer ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni has announced that it will expand the capacity at its plant in Terni and upgrade the production facility to international competitive levels.
As a part of its reorganization plans, the company will step-by-step relocate the entire production from its facility at Turin to Terni. The Turin facility has a significant disadvantage in term of logistics, energy costs, infrastructure and environmental aspects.
The relocation of the main equipment to Terni, including the cold-rolled production line, will optimize ThyssenKrupp's competitiveness. The closure of the Turin facility is scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2007/2008 fiscal year.
