Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, said three Canacero steel norms will take effect in 60 days, effectively from March 26. Canacero is Mexico’s steel association.

The NMX-B-262-CANACERO-2019 regulation sets the standard specifications for structural steel for ships. It will cancel the former NMX-B-262-1990 regulation.

Additionally, the NMX-B-524-CANACERO-2019 norm sets methods and criteria for the use of ultrasonic testing, as well as the characterization and verification of ultrasonic thickness measuring equipment.

SE said the NMX-H-108-CANACERO-2019 norm establishes the requisites for the characterization of carbon steel electrodes for shielded arc welding. It also cancels the NMX-H-108-1986 regulation.
