Thailand’s scrap imports at 1.51 million mt in January-November 2018

On November 30, SteelOrbis reported that Thailand imported 1.37 million mt of ferrous scrap in the January to October 2018 period. Thailand imported 0.14 million mt of ferrous scrap in November for an 11-month total of 1.51 million mt of ferrous scrap imports per provisional customs data.

During the 11-month period, Thailand imported 0.44 million mt from the US (29 percent), 0.18 million mt from Myanmar (12 percent), 0.13 million mt from Australia (9 percent), .07 million mt from Panama (5 percent), .06 million mt from Trinidad and Tobago (4 percent), .06 million mt from Philippines (4 percent), and the remaining 0.57 million mt (38 percent) from destinations such as South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, UK, and other countries.
