According to the Thai Automotive Industry Association (TAIA), due to the impact of the floods which hit the country towards the end of last year Thailand's auto sales declined in December last year and in the full year of 2011.

In December 2011, Thailand's auto sales totaled 54,575 units, down 41.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the auto sales for the full year registered a 0.8 percent year-on-year decrease to 794,081 units.

Thailand suffered major floods in October last year, which contributed to a 40.5 percent year-on-year decrease in auto sales in October and a 67.5 percent year-on-year decline in November.

In addition, in 2011 Thailand's auto output reached 1.46 million units, down 11.4 percent year on year, while its export sales in the given year totaled 733,950 units, down 17.9 percent year on year.
