Thailand billet imports mainly from Iran in 2017

According to Thailand customs data, Thailand imported 1.92 million mt of billet in 2017. This is a decline of 58 percent compared to 3.31 million mt of billet imported in 2016. In the first seven months of 2017, Thailand imported 1.15 million mt of billet, down by 61 percent compared to 2.95 million mt in the same period the previous year.

In 2017, Iran (43 percent, 0.826 million mt) and Japan (20 percent, 0.384 million mt) were the major sources for billet imports to Thailand. The remaining billet imports came from Russia (6 percent, 0.115 million mt), Brazil (6 percent, 0.115 million mt), Indonesia (5 percent, 0.096 million mt), and other countries (20 percent, 0.384 million mt).
