Thai steel industry demands termination of AD duties

Recent news in the market reports that, Thai steel producers demanded Thailand Commerce Ministry to lift anti-dumping duties, which have been in effect since May 2003, on imports of steel scrap from 14 countries. Steel producers are stated to have submitted such a demand to the Commerce Ministry due to shortage of raw materials fuelled by strong demand China and accordingly the rising prices and costs. Moreover, the prices are expected to follow an upward trend at least by the end of third quarter, although the Ministry has the authority to regulate prices.
