Thai Sahaviriya Steel to halt production temporarily

According to recent news in the market, Thai Sahaviriya Steel Industries Pcl will close its plant for 38 days in order to install new machinery in its hot rolled strip mill. With the new machinery, the annual production capacity of the plant will increase from the current 2.4 million tons to 4 million tons. The plant, which will be closed on December 27, 2004, will be re-operational as of February 2, 2005. Thai Sahaviriya Steel will increase hot rolled coil production as demand for the product is quite strong in the country. The company will deliver its products to its customers from its inventory during the closure. Moreover, hot rolled coil pickling and oiling production will continue during this period.
