Latin America-focused steelmaker Ternium has signed a sales contract with a residue treatment center owned by Ciclus to provide steel waste. The steel waste byproduct, also known locally as “steel aggregate,” can be used to pave streets.
Ternium will provide 15,000 mt of the byproduct to the Ciclus residue treatment center located in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro state. Ternium said it produces about 75,000 mt/month of steel waste “aggregate.”
Ternium owns local slab producer Ternium Brazil and has a major stake at flats producer Usiminas.
