Mexican pipe producer Tenaris Tamsa is considering an expansion in Mexico through undisclosed investments it expects for the ongoing year, a media report from Diario Xalapa said. The company said it will soon disclose details for the planned investments in 2018.

Included in the plan are new plants that will produce “added-value” products, focusing on the production of seamless tubes as well as parts for the automotive industry.

Tenaris Tamsa said its Veracruz plant is currently operating at its full 231,000 mt/year capacity and exporting to five continents.

The media report said Tenaris Tamsa has opened a plant in Bay City, near Houston, which produces steel tubes. The Houston plant is reportedly connected to the Veracruz plant, and it’s expected to meet the demands of the North American oil industry.
