Mexican tube and pipe producer Tenaris Tamsa said it has been operating in incremental shifts as a way to recover production levels following a recent strike, according to a media report citing a company's spokesperson.
The company's public relations director, Luis Gerardo Cárdenas Hernández, added that the strike did not cause the company to lose any sale contracts.
The company resumed activities at its Vera Cruz plant last week, following a resolution from the country’s Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS). Pascual Lagunes Ochoa, the leader of the company’s affiliated union, was detained by police, following violent protests in March that killed two people and let another 11 wounded. Ochoa’s detention led Tenaris Tamsa to halt its production for a few days.
"We're recovering right now the time we lost in order to not have any contract affected. Generally speaking, we produce under purchase requests and we're managing to meet all our demands," the company's spokesperson said, adding that all of the company's areas are coordinating in order to meet existing production targets.
