TCUD: Turkey’s scrap import volume rises by 2.6 percent in Jan-Oct

In the January-October period of the current year, Turkey's scrap import volume rose by 2.6 percent on year-on-year basis to 17.5 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $6.1 billion with a 25.4 percent increase in the given period compared to the same period of last year, according to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

In the first ten months of this year, Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries decreased by 0.5 percent to 10.4 million mt, its scrap imports from the US rose by 8.4 percent to 3.2 million mt, while scrap imports from CIS countries amounted to 2.4 million mt, up 5.7 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same period, the share of EU countries in Turkey's total scrap imports was 60 percent, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 18 percent, while CIS countries’ share was 14 percent.
