TCIL plans increasing its tinplate production

The Tinplate Company of India is planning to escalate its annual electrolytic tinplate capacity to 145'000 tons in two years' time for Rs360million ($7.8million), which corresponds to an increase of 16%. The company obtained a net profit of Rs20.1million on Rs2.64 billion of income during 2002-03 period and compared to the Q2 of last year's profit of Rs3million, it has obtained a net profit of Rs30.2million on Rs802.3million sales income in Q2 of 2003. Being a part of Tata Steel Group, the company has signed an agreement with Japan's Nippon Steel and Europe's Arcelor for the growth of plant's efficiency.
