Tata Steel’s crude steel output increases in FY 2012-13

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced its sales results for the fourth quarter and the financial year 2012-13 ending March 31. The total domestic sales of Tata Steel for the fourth quarter amounted to 2.27 million mt, increasing by 29 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year. In the full financial year 2012-13, the company's total domestic sales increased by 13 percent year on year to 7.48 million mt.

Tata Steel's crude steel output for the fourth quarter increased by 26 percent year on year to 2.3 million mt, while the crude steel output for the full financial year amounted to 7.5 million mt, rising by 13 percent compared to the previous year. The company's liquid pig iron output in the quarter in question amounted to 2.45 million mt, up 25 percent year on year. On the other hand, Tata Steel produced 8.85 million mt of liquid pig iron in FY 2012-13, registering an increase of 14 percent year on year.

In FY 2012-13, Tata Steel's new bar mill, wire rod mill and merchant bar mill produced 800,000 mt, 430,000 mt and 410,000 mt respectively, all achieving their highest-ever production.
