Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced that it will build a $3.5 billion integrated steel complex in Vietnam through a joint venture.

The government of the Southeast Asian country has approved Tata Steel's joint venture with the Vietnam Steel Corporation in the context of the project.

The project calls for a 4.5 million-ton plant in Ha Tinh province. Iron ore for the plant will come from Vietnam's Thach Khe mines.
