Tata Steel increases profit in October-December period

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel recorded a 711% year-on-year profit increase for October-December period in 2002, which amounts to a figure of Rs 280.23 Crore i.e. approximately $58.5 million. The company produced 1.025 million tons within this period compared to 943'371 tons of production in the same period previous year. The company has plans to increase its current annual capacity of 3.5 million tons, by an additional 2 million tons through time due to the decision of expansion expected by March 2003.
