India-headquartered steel giant Tata Steel Group is considering the sale of two of its steel operations in the UK separately, namely, the specialty steel business located in both Rotherham and Stocksbridge and the tubes business in Hartlepool, if it finalizes a deal with the UK government to keep the Port Talbot steelworks in Wales, according to media sources.

In March this year, Tata Steel announced that it had decided to pull out of the UK altogether due to the deterioration of trading conditions in the UK. Last month, the international steel and minerals group Liberty House expressed its interest in buying the mentioned plants, which employ 11,000 people, while it also acquired the former Tata Steel plate plants at Dalzell and Clydebridge in Lanarkshire, Scotland.
