The authorities in the Fengrun district in Tangshan city, a major steel production base in North China’s Hebei Province, announced on September 15 that the production ban they intend to impose on re-rollers in the region will take effect from September 23, instead of the previously announced date of September 16. This means that billet will still be in demand in the district this week.

As SteelOrbis reported previously, in the Fengrun district Tianzhu Iron and Steel and Xinbaotai Iron and Steel are required to cut sintering and pelletizing capacity by 20 percent from September 1 to September 27 and by 30 percent from September 28 to October 4.

In the first half of September, production restrictions have been eased in Tangshan, though some tightening of restrictions is still expected later this month.
