Tangshan to impose air pollution control measures in August

The municipal government of Tangshan in China’s Hebei Province has announced that in August it will impose air pollution control measures to lower PM 2.5 concentrations and improve air quality.

In particular, sintering machines belonging to category A, including Shougang Qian’an Iron and Steel, Shougang Jingtang Iron and Steel, Wenfeng Iron and Steel, Tangsteel Steel Plate Mill, Delong Iron and Steel, Zhongheng Iron and Steel, Tianzhu Iron and Steel, Huaxi Iron and Steel, Guoyi Special Steel, Jinma Iron and Steel, Rockcheck Iron and Steel, Jianlong Iron and Steel, Xionglong Iron and Steel, Jinxi Iron and Steel, Jinxi Special Steel and Ganglu Iron and Steel will halt 20 percent of their capacities from August 1 to August 31.

Sintering machines belonging to the southern and northern mills of HBIS Group Tangsteel Company will halt 40 percent of their capacities from August 1 to August 31.

Sintering machines and blast furnaces belonging to Tangyin Iron and Steel and Tangsteel Special Steel will halt 50 percent of their capacities in the given period.

Sintering machines belonging to Chunxing Iron and Steel, New Baotai Iron and Steel, Ruifeng Iron and Steel, Donghua Iron and Steel, Kaiheng Iron and Steel, Jing’an Iron and Steel, Donghai Iron and Steel, Donghai Special Steel, Qian’an Jiujiang Wire Rod, Xinda Iron and Steel, Yanshan Iron and Steel, Rongxin Iron and Steel, Songting Iron and Steel and Roll No. 1 Group will halt 50 percent of their capacities in the given period, while the blast furnaces of these producers will halt 30 percent of their capacities.

At the same time, category A coking plants are required to extend their coke carbonization period to at least 28 hours, while category B and C coking plants are required to extend their coke carbonization period to at least 36 hours, which will have the result of reducing coke output.

Four coking plants, Lanhai Coking, Rongfeng Coking, Tongbao Coking and Dongfang Coking, will completely halt their production operations.
