Tangshan, a major steelmaking hub in China’s Hebei Province, has been required to implement level II anti-smog measures starting from 12:00 on December 23 due to the increase in smog recorded as of December 23.
Accordingly, the production restriction rates on sintering machines, pelletizing equipment and lime kiln of enterprises that supply heating (heated water via pipes) in winter will increase by 20 percent compared to orange alert measures.
However, for steel enterprises not supplying heating in winter and which have B-level emission standards will halt production operations at sintering machines, pelletizing equipment and lime kilns, while as regards steel enterprises with C-level emission standards their blast furnaces will suspend 50 percent of capacity and their sintering machines, pelletizing equipment and lime kilns will halt production operations.
