The municipal government of Tangshan in China’s Hebei Province has announced that from 22:00 on August 22 to 12:00 on August 25 it will impose stricter air pollution control measures to minimize the transmission of pollutants from the eastern districts of Tangshan to the central urban areas of the city.

In particular, the northern mill of HBIS Group’s Tangsteel will have one sintering machine maintaining normal production, while the sintering machines of other steelmakers will halt at least 50 percent of production capacity. Meanwhile, daily traffic to and from steel mills will be reduced by 50 percent and overloading of vehicles will be strictly forbidden.

From 22:00 on August 22 to 12:00 on August 23, from 20:00 on August 23 to 12:00 on August 24 and from 20:00 on August 24 to 12:00 on August 25, coking plants will have to stop loading of coal and coke production and increase the efficiency of desulfurization and denitrification facilities, to ensure discharge of pollutants in low concentrations.

These latest measures come just after the previous restrictions in Tangshan ended on August 21.
