The municipal government of Tangshan in the Chinese province of Hebei has announced a new round of steel production restrictions until August 1.

Accordingly, six steelmakers, namely, Tangshan Steel, Shougang Qian'an, Shougang Jingtang, Delong, Wengfeng and Sinogiant, which have been defined as class A for their adherence to emissions standards, will reduce steelmaking by 20 percent, while all the other mills in the city will make a 50 percent reduction in their steel production until August 1.

Regarding coking operations, four coking enterprises in Tongbao, Lanhai, Yifeng and Dongfang (only a part of its equipment will be affected) will shut down operations before July 10.

After August 1, the government will decide whether the restrictions will continue or not, depending on the city's air quality and meteorological conditions.
