The municipal government of Tangshan in China’s Hebei Province has issued a list of 10 priority tasks for Tangshan in 2018. In particular, the government will ban new investments in industries with severe overcapacity problems, including the steel industry. Meanwhile, no new-added capacities may be launched in the coking industry, the non-ferrous metals industry and the ferroalloy industry.

Moreover, based on factors including environmental protection, energy consumption, water consumption, product quality, technology, taxes and employment, Tangshan will inaugurate a ranking system for enterprises in the steel industry, the power sector, the coking industry, the cement industry and the glass industry, and will force low-ranking enterprises to exit the urban area.
