Taiwan's industrial production index in September this year decreased by 3.8 percent compared to August and was up five percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in August decreased 0.7 percent compared to the previous month, while rising by 4.6 percent year on year.
In the January-September period of this year, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 0.3 percent year on year.
In September this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 10.1 percent and output of metal product manufacturing saw a decrease of 13.8 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in September this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector grew by three percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw a decrease of 5.9 percent in output.
Meanwhile, in September this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 5.1 percent, while output in the automotive industry was down by 15.6 percent, both year on year.
