SunCoke Energy reports net losses for Q4, full-year 2019

SunCoke Energy, Inc. reported fourth quarter and full-year 2019 results. Revenues totaled $397.2 million for the fourth quarter, compared to $368.9 million in Q4 2018. Revenues for the full-year 2019 totaled $1.60 billion, compared to $1.45 billion in 2018.

The company reported a net loss for Q4 of $1.4 million, compared to net income of $1.8 million in Q4 2018. For the full-year 2019, the company reported a net loss of $152.3 million, compared to net income of $26.2 million in 2018.

Results for the company’s domestic coke segment, which consists of cokemaking facilities and heat recovery operations at the Jewell, Indiana Harbor, Haverhill, Granite City and Middletown plants, include revenues of $373.3 million in Q4 and $1.49 billion for the full-year 2019. The segment reported adjusted EBITDA of $52.1 million for Q4 and $226.7 million for 2019. Total sales volume for domestic coke totaled 1.08 million tons in Q4 and 4.17 million tons for 2019.

For the Brazil coke segment, which consists of a cokemaking facility in Vitória, Brazil that is operated for an affiliate of ArcelorMittal, revenues totaled $9.1 million for Q4 and $38.4 million for 2019. Adjusted EBITDA for the segment was $3.3 million for Q4 and $16.0 million for full-year 2019.

As for an outlook, the company said it expects the Indiana Harbor facility to achieve full production of 1.2 million tons and run-rate EBITDA of approximately $50 million. Domestic coke production is expected to be approximately 4.3 million tons, and consolidated adjusted EBITDA is expected to be between $235 million to $245 million.
