Louisville, Kentucky-based Steel Technologies LLC, a flat-rolled processor and distributor, announced Monday that it will build a new flat-rolled steel processing operation in the Baijo region of central Mexico. The new 100,000 square-foot facility is expected to be constructed and fully operational by early 2013.

Michael J. Carroll, President and CEO of Steel Technologies commented on the expansion, noting that the new facility will serve the growing automotive market in Baijo. "This expansion will allow us to more efficiently service existing customers and those that are expanding in the region," he said.

Steel Technologies is owned as a 50-50 joint venture between Nucor Corporation, and Mitsui & Co. USA, Inc.
