Swedish specialty steel producer SSAB has announced that it has launched an ultra-high-strength, electro-galvanized coating steel to be used in automotive industry. The new cold forming steel requires less energy for trimming processes than with hot stamped boron steel.
SSAB has been developing a variety of electro-galvanized coating for the automotive industry. The company stated that many automotive manufacturers, like Beycelik Gestamp in Turkey, have been using the high-strength steel of the company.
The company also announced at the same time the introduction of its new steel grades of hot rolled and cold formed steel. According to SSAB's statement, the new high-strength strips for lighter and stronger structures can reduce weight of the new end product, while its strength and durability are increased.
