Spanish steel product exports up 6.2 percent in Q1

In April this year, Spanish crude steel output amounted to 1.2 million mt, down 9.3 percent year on year and decreasing by 7.3 percent compared to March, according to the Spanish steelmakers association Unesid.
 
On the other hand, in the first quarter of this year Spanish steel product imports increased by 8.3 percent to 2.15 million mt, valued at €1.51 billion, up 5.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the given period Spanish steel product exports totaled 2.31 million mt, up 6.2 percent, with a value of €1.77 billion, down 3.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In the first quarter, apparent steel use in Spain increased by 9.9 percent year on year to 988,000 mt, including 348,000 mt of long products and 599,000 mt of flat products.
