Spain has officialized the extradition process of Alonso Ancira, the board president of Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA), following corruption charges against him, officials said.

According to Mexico’s Attorney General's Office (FGR), Spanish authorities have now met all requirements to meet the Mexican government’s demand. Ancira was detained by Interpol in Spain on May 28, following corruption charges by the Mexican government.

Ancira reportedly paid EUR 1 million to be released. Since then, the executive was not able to leave Spain and needed to report to court every two days.
