South Korea's auto output up 4.07 percent in January-May

In May this year, South Korea's total automotive (cars and commercial vehicles) output amounted to 373,470 units, down 13.91 percent month on month and declining by 3.05 percent year on year, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). On the other hand, South Korea's car and commercial vehicle output in the first five months of the current year saw a year-on-year increase of 4.07 percent to 1,962,122 units.

Meanwhile, in May this year South Korean automotive exports totaled 254,072 units, down 15.29 percent month on month and decreasing by 5.53 percent year on year. In the first five months, the country's automotive exports increased by 2.27 percent year on year to 1,341,523 units.

In May this year, the number of vehicles sold in the South Korean domestic market totaled 122,082 units, down 6.85 percent year on year and increasing by 1.66 percent month on month. In the first five months, domestic vehicle sales in South Korea increased by 5.01 percent year on year to 590,739 units.
