According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in September this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.94 billion ($810.34 million), up 4.8 percent from August. In the January-September period of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 6.7 percent year on year to ZAR 100.7 billion ($7.45 billion).
In September of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 5.14 billion ($380.6 million), increasing 10.5 percent from the previous month, while in the first nine months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof rose by 1.2 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 45.48 billion ($3.36 billion).
