South Africa’s base metal export value up 2.1 percent in January-September

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in September this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.48 billion ($742.94 million), down 12.4 percent from August. In the first nine months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 2.1 percent year on year to ZAR 102.72 billion ($7.27 billion). 

In September of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 5.2 billion ($368.74 million), increasing 1.2 percent from the previous month, while in the January-September period of this year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof fell by 1.6 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 44.76 billion ($3.17 billion).
