South Africa’s base metal export value up 10.1 percent in H1

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in June this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 11.86 billion ($850.1 million), down 1.4 percent from May. In the first half of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 10.1 percent year on year to ZAR 68.58 billion ($4.91 billion). 
 
In June of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.63 billion ($332.53 million), decreasing  4.1 percent from the previous month, while in the first six months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof rose by 1.4 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 30.6 billion ($2.19 billion).
