Sound increase in China’s silicon steel production

According to the latest data from China's National Bureau of Statistics , total silicon steel production of the country increased 51.3% year on year to 202'700 tons in May 2005. Total silicon steel production through the first five months amounted to 928'800 tons, a 40.2% year-on-year increase. Shanghai headed the silicon steel production with 49'200 tons in May, a 13.9% year on year increase. For the first five months, Shanghai's silicon steel production increased 7.1% year on year to 241'300 tons. Liaoning province also posted strong numbers. The province produced 37'200 tons of silicon steel in May, up 193% year on year. Liaoning's total silicon steel production for the first five months increased 154.5% year on year to 158'800 tons.
