SMS Demag to supply twin-stand Steckel mill to Maghreb Steel

German steelmaker SMS Demag has announced that it has received an order from Morocco-based steelmaker Maghreb Steel for the construction of a twin-stand Steckel mill.

The facility is to be built in Casablanca and is planned to go into operation at the end of 2008.

The new mill is designed for an annual production of one million mt and will produce strips in widths of 600-1,575 mm and thicknesses of 1.5-20 mm. The product range comprises strip of low-and medium-carbon steel grades as well as high-strength low-alloy steels.
