German plantmaker SMS Demag has announced the receipt of an order from ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali in Terni, Italy for the supply of a new 20-roll cold rolling mill for the production of stainless steel strip.
The scope of the order includes the supply of a 20-roll mill stand as well as the design, manufacture, erection and commissioning of the mechanical components, including auxiliary systems such as hydraulic, rolling oil and fume exhaust systems.
The 20-roll mill stand is designed for a maximum rolling force of 16,000 kN and a maximum rolling speed of 800 m/min. The mill will produce stainless steel strips of grades AISI 400 (ferrite) and AISI 300 (austenite) with high surface qualities.
The electrical equipment will be supplied by ABB.
