SMS Demag commissions slab caster at Jindal

German plantmaker SMS Demag has announced the successful commissioning of a continuous slab caster at the Raigarh works of Indian steel producer Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (Jindal).

The new slab caster has an annual production capacity of one million metric tons of slabs in widths between 1,800 and 2,600 mm and in thicknesses of 215, 250 or 280 mm.

With the installation of the new slab caster, Jindal has become the producer of the thickest and widest slabs in India.
