SMS commissions slab caster at Mittal Steel Poland

After a project lasting 16.5 months, Germany's SMS Demag has successfully commissioned a two-strand continuous slab caster at the Dąbrowa Górnicza works (formerly Huta Katowice) of Mittal Steel Poland S.A. The caster, which will have an annual production capacity of three million tons, has been designed to produce slabs with thicknesses of 220 and 250 mm (300 mm in the future) and widths ranging from 1,000 to 2,190 mm.
