Singapore’s unemployment rate up in Q1

Singapore's unemployment rate rose from 3.7% in the previous quarter to 3.9% in the first quarter of 2005 as the slowdown in economic growth continued to affect the employment market. Although this figure is relatively lower than the 5.7% in the third quarter of 2003, it almost increased two-fold against the 1.9% unemployment rate seen before the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
